Rooth Canal Therapy

Root Canal Therapy

Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy is a necessary treatment when the nerve of your tooth becomes diseased, or infected. If left untreated, the infection in the root canal will eat away the tissue that protects and feeds the tooth to keep it healthy and spread into the gums and bone surrounding the tooth. When this occurs, a tooth extraction and dental implant will be necessary to restore function to that area.

If root canal therapy is performed in time, the tooth can be saved and the need for an extraction and dental implant are no longer necessary. This saves a lot of time and money for the patient, as well as leaves as much of the natural structure in tact as possible. In the root canal therapy process, the decay is uncovered and then a thin file is used to clean out the root canal of the tooth. Then, any infection, abscess, or decay is removed and a dental crown will placed over the open canal to strengthen the tooth and protect the canal.
